The Smothers Brothers had a six-week residency at the Satire in June/July 1960. Dylan played some short afternoon sets before the Smothers Brothers went on. Walt Conley, club manager, as quoted in the Denver Post (Jul 23, 1986): "He played for free: 'This Land is Your Land,' '900 Miles,' 'Woody Guthrie's Talking Blues'. He wasn't very good and the customers didn't listen to him."
