"An impending snowstorm in Washington prompted the White House to move up 'In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement' to Tuesday night [February 9]. 'It was music that was not only inspired by the movement but gave strength in return,' President Obama told the audience in opening remarks. 'Let this music carry us forth, as one people. As one nation.' The event, which featured performances by Yolanda Adams, Joan Baez, Natalie Cole, Bob Dylan, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, the Freedom Singers and the Blind Boys of Alabama, airs on PBS Thursday [February 11]" (USA Today, Feb 10, 2010)
